As usual Kai is quiet in Spark Club, but gone is the feigned distance. They lean forward and listen intently to the kid speaking.
“The whole district just feels like a reminder. You are dangerous. You are not wanted. If you don't hide, this is what will happen. And its not like home is much better.”
Kai doesn't say anything there and then. But that night they rush through the Redevelopment District like a storm, blasting ice left and right. They stop briefly in front of their parents' house. Tonight isn't the night though. They need to do better first. Kai blasts their door as well for good measure.
When the district wakes the signs are everywhere, frozen in place on doors and walls.
